With Maria, I continued hitchhiking from Espírito Santo to the south of Bahía. 10 km from Cumuruxativa, in the middle of nowhere, close to a beautiful deserted beach, we had a very special, nature close, couchsurfing place.
With Maria, my new travel buddy from Argentina, I decided to hitchhike from Ouro Preto to Vitoria, the capital of the Brazilian state Espírito Santo and from there continue to São Matheus and Bahía.
Ouro Preto is a beautiful colonial town in the mountains of Minas Gerais, that is definiltely worth visiting.

Paraty is a dream, and everybody who is traveling Brazil should not miss it! It´s located some 250 km south from Rio de Janeiro, and located in the middle of lush and divine landscapes.
I stayed there for almost one week, even though I planned to stay for maximal 2-3 days.
Close to the little village Cunha, located in the state of São Paulo in Brazil, one can find the community Source Temple, a spiritual sanctuary.
Normally I try to avoid big cities on my travels, if I have the choice. But sometimes, you just cannot choose. Big cities usually serve as hub for airplanes, buses or trains, and even if you hitchhike, it´s always easier from/to the bigger cities.
So, if your next airplane, bus, train or car brings you to Rio de Janeiro, give it a chance. Don´t hesitate to spend some days here and explore the city. You´ll see, in the case of Rio de Janeiro, it´s really worth it.
What do you think about a city, that is built in the middle of the Amazon rainforest of Brazil? Heat, humidity, many mosquitos,… Maybe you are right, it´s all of this. But Manaus is actually a lot more.
